A Commitment to the Community

Since the company's beginning in 1981, Tanger has made a strong commitment to help make the communities that we serve, better places to live and work. Through company donations and fund-raising efforts, Tanger has contributed well over a million dollars to charitable causes. Tanger is also strongly committed to programs that help preserve our environment. We do this because we care. Both at our corporate office and at each of our shopping centers nationwide, we have empowered our employees on the company's behalf to go into the community to get involved...to make a difference in people's lives. Being a good corporate citizen is extremely important to our organization and our team.

Tanger has concentrated its charitable efforts in two important areas: Children and Breast Cancer.

We believe that there is nothing more important than helping children and schools succeed. Through the company's annual Educational Fundraising Program, we've partnered with hundreds of schools in our communities to provide funds to help purchase library books and other classroom supplies, to establish scholarships, to help purchase athletic and playground equipment as well as many other important school projects.

Tanger has been on the frontline in the battle against breast cancer since 1994. Under the leadership of Founder, Stanley K. Tanger, our annual Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign has raised in excess of $4 million to benefit local American Cancer Society chapters across the country. Tanger is proud of it's role in raising funds for breast cancer research and for creating national awareness for the importance of self-examination and early detection.

We also believe that it is vital to recognize and support the true heroes in the communities that we serve. Each year, Tanger Outlet Centers across the United States host ceremonies to honor and show financial support to local police departments, fire and rescue departments and others.

Environmental conservation is also a very important part of Tanger's corporate philosophy. We work closely with concerned citizens, community organizations and governmental agencies on environmental programs. From helping to preserve and protect native plants and fauna to land and water conservancy and comprehensive recycling programs at Tanger shopping centers, the company continues to contribute time, energy and financial resources toward making our world a better place.
